Glenwood Springs, CO (February 2, 2008) – Golf Club Consulting, Inc. was retained by a national feasibility firm to assist in analyzing golf course improvements for Papago GC, that are being proposed by the Arizona Golf Association.

In 2007, the Arizona Golf Association was awarded a long-term operating contract by the City of Phoenix (Arizona), who owns Papago GC.  The contract includes major facility renovations and the plan is to start work on April 1, 2008.

The layout of Papago GC is extremely unique for a desert golf course and the course gained quite a national reputation in the 1960’s.

“The improvements are meant to restore the facility to its glory days with no design changes planned for the William Bell designed classic” said a representative of the AGA. 

“We have been retained by a major lending institution to analyze the details of the AGA proposal. Portions of proposed plans are very specialized and we have asked Golf Club Consulting, Inc. to assist us with analyzing the course construction and the agronomic issues involved.” said a representative of HVS International. 

“The Arizona Golf Association has put together an impressive team and a very comprehensive improvement plan for the facility.  The proposed plan for the golf course includes rebuilding all of the greens to USGA specifications, completely replacing the irrigation system and renovating the 50+ bunkers throughout the course.  We will be primarily be analyzing the proposal for risk exposure and we will focus on the expense portion of the improvements including contract specifications and labor allocations,” said Richard Eide of Golf Club Consulting, Inc.
